I am an Assistant Professor of Music at Harper College. I earned my PhD from the University of California San Diego Music (Integrative Studies) in 2019. Sadie Pins, drag queen
Sadie Pins began in 2017. Her style is a very campy version of punk. The project began as an exercise in bringing anti-capitalist critique and gender-uncertainty to drag, focused mostly in an avant-garde performance community. Now, she is located squarely in the gaybourhood, and she focuses on the complex and nuanced relationships many drag performers have with capitalism and gender.
Sound
Sadie Hochman-Ruiz also plays experimental guitar with the group masc4masc. We are interested in the gendered limits of our respective instruments. Also, how is queerness seen and unseen depending on the time and place? What does hindsight teach us about ourselves and our world? How is our future survival shaped by our past survival?
Beauties Trans Services
We are an advocacy collective who aim to simplify and increased access to transfeminine people that find the world of beauty and cosmetics challenging to navigate.
